SERVICE STAFF SPECIALIZING IN WINE (m/f/d)
all year round
Österreich, Steiermark
Description
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a service-oriented individual with expertise in wine—someone with vision and a keen sense for first-class service.
Requirements
What You Bring to the Table:
In-depth expertise: You have a solid knowledge of wine. You explain wine in a personalized way, with infectious enthusiasm and just the right touch. You have completed training as a sommelier or hold a diploma in sommelier studies, as well as solid professional experience in premium dining relevant to the position we’re advertising.
Since we never compromise on quality—neither with our bread rolls nor with our team—we can only consider applications in the selection process that truly embody this profile, which combines a deep passion for wine with strong values.
- Your mindset: You’re a passionate host. You enjoy the balance between the fast-paced daytime bar business (coffee, bread rolls, spritz drinks) and providing in-depth expert advice in the evening.
Your key responsibilities in the wine department:
- Wine Sales & Inventory Management: You’ll manage active wine sales at the bar and continue to expand street-side sales. You’ll maintain the inventory with a structured overview. You’ll work closely with management on wine procurement. Currently, our cellar holds exciting Burgundy wines waiting to be discovered by our guests. Together with management, you’ll use this distinctive foundation to further develop the wine list over the long term and set new directions for our positioning.
- Team Training: As a wine-loving professional, you’ll serve as a mentor for our team. You’ll be responsible for the initial training and ongoing education of our staff regarding wine knowledge and professional wine service.
- Event Formats: You will help design and organize exciting wine events and leverage your personal connections with fascinating winemakers and the wine community.

Offer
To help you settle in smoothly and fully embrace our brand identity, your development with us takes place in several phases:
- Phase 1: Orientation: You’ll get to know our charming team, our internal processes, and our valued regular customers. You’ll assist with day-to-day operations (Frankowitsch bread sales, the daytime bar, and the Frankowitsch wine bar), prepare coffee and spritz drinks, and actively support the service team.
- Phase 2: The Transition to the Wine Bar: You’ll delve deeper into our wine bar, nurture existing relationships, build new connections, and—ideally—bring your own networks with you.
- Phase 3: Strategy & Wine List: You’ll share responsibility for the wine selection.
Your ultimate premium package with us:
We offer working conditions that value both your expertise and your personal life equally:
- 40 hours, 5 days:Spread out from Monday through Saturday. Sundays and holidays are yours to enjoy with your family and friends.
Excellent work-life balance:Our bar closes early. Our regular closing time is 9:30 p.m. That means your shift ends when others are just getting started.
Your salary with us:
For this stylish role on our team, we offer an attractive, market-competitive salary above the collective bargaining agreement. We’re willing to pay a premium for the right level of wine expertise and experience. A substantial share of the restaurant tips is a nice bonus on top of that.
Based on full-time employment (40 hours/week, no “all-in” package):
- Commis Sommelier (entry-level): starting at €2,300 gross per month
- Experienced Sommelier (with certified sommelier title): starting at €2,800 gross per month
- Head Sommelier (overall responsibility): starting at 3,800 € gross per month
