Section Chef (m/f/d)
Cook / Kitchen All-Rounder (m/f/d)
Summer / Winter Season
Österreich, Kärnten, Osttirol
Description
Not just a job. Not the same routine every day. But a kitchen where you can make a difference.
Our Hotel Alpenhof is located on the outskirts of St. Jakob in the Defereggental valley at an elevation of about 1,400 meters—right in the heart of one of East Tyrol’s most beautiful high valleys. The Defereggental is known for its unspoiled nature, a ski area with guaranteed snow, and a relaxed, quality-oriented winter and summer tourism experience.
Our 4-star hotel can accommodate up to 240 guests, including extra beds, and combines traditional Tyrolean hospitality with professional, quality-oriented hotel management.
For the upcoming season, we ’re rebuilding our kitchen team. In addition to a new head chef, we’re looking for dedicated chefs who are eager to work with us to build a strong new kitchen team.
We are deliberately not looking for a chef who wants to spend the entire season in just one position.
We’re looking for a cook / kitchen all-rounder (m/f/d) who values variety, enjoys taking on different tasks, and finds joy in applying their skills across various areas of our kitchen.
Versatility instead of always the same station
Today at the garde manger station, tomorrow preparing sides, assisting the pastry chef, or—when needed—even working at the meat or fish station—with us, you’ll have the opportunity to put your strengths to use while learning new skills at the same time.
Together with our head chef, we want to build a kitchen team where individual staff members don’t think solely in terms of rigid roles, but rather support one another and function as a team.
Of course, being an all-rounder here doesn’t mean that everyone has to do everything every day. Clear responsibilities and good organization are just as much a part of a professional kitchen for us.
However, we’re looking for employees who are willing to think outside the box.
Requirements
What We're Looking for in You
You have completed training as a chef or have equivalent professional experience, and you’re a master of your craft.
But your attitude is much more important to us than any specific title on your resume.
You’re a passionate chef, a team player, and an all-arounder. You enjoy working in different roles, help your colleagues when needed, and are eager to further your professional development.
Perhaps you already have several years of experience and are specifically looking for a varied role. Or maybe you’re a young chef who wants to gain experience in as many areas as possible and grow within a strong kitchen team.
Your Responsibilities
Depending on your experience and personal strengths, you’ll work in various areas of our kitchen and support our team, particularly with:
- Mise en place and preparation for the various stations
- Preparing our daily menus and dishes
- Working in various areas of the hot and cold kitchen
- Plating and presenting the dishes
- Adhering to our quality and hygiene standards
- Careful and economical handling of our food
- Collaborating on the further development of our kitchen processes
- Contributing your own ideas and experiences

What we offer
A New Team—and the Chance to Be Part of It from the Start
Our kitchen brigade is being reorganized for the upcoming season. We don’t see this as a disadvantage, but rather as an opportunity.
Our new head chef will have the opportunity to work with us to further develop our structures and processes. And as a member of the team, you’ll also be able to contribute your experience and ideas.
We want to build a team where quality, mutual support, and a passion for the profession go hand in hand.
Those who join us from the very beginning can actively help shape this journey.
What We Offer You
With us, you can expect a varied role in a kitchen where you won’t be limited to a single area of responsibility.
You’ll have the opportunity to apply your existing skills, learn about other areas, and further your professional development.
We offer a professional work environment, clear structures, quick decision-making processes, and a kitchen management team that wants to build something together with its brigade.
Performance-based compensation that exceeds the collective bargaining agreement is a given for us and will be individually negotiated based on your experience and qualifications.
If you’re not interested in spending an entire season exclusively in the same role, but are looking for variety, enjoy working as part of a team, and want to grow as a chef, then we should get to know each other.
Get in touch with us—we look forward to receiving your application!
