Description
Your Role as Assistant Restaurant Manager
Together with our restaurant manager, you’ll ensure that good service turns into authentic Forsthofalm moments. In this role, you’ll be a host, a leader, and an organizational whiz all at once—and right in the thick of things.
During daily service, you’ll manage your own station while keeping an eye on the big picture. You’ll help lead and develop our service team, share your knowledge through power briefings and training sessions, and assist with scheduling and organizing the team. When our restaurant manager is away, you’ll take charge of the restaurant area.
Our guests are always the focus of our attention. You identify their needs, find professional solutions even when handling complaints, and work with the team to ensure seamless service in line with our quality standards.
You also contribute to the business side of things: You promote authentic upselling, help develop our wine, bar, and beverage menus, and keep track of orders, deliveries, and inventory levels. In doing so, you’ll work closely with the kitchen, bar, front desk, and other departments at the Forsthofalm.
Ideally, you have training in the restaurant or hospitality industry or relevant professional experience, and you’ve already worked in service for several years—for example, as a chef de rang. You have excellent knowledge of food, beverages, and wine, as well as expertise in guest relations, complaint management, hygiene, and allergens. A business-minded approach and a knack for sales are also essential for this position.
In short: You’re not just a stand-in for the restaurant manager—you’re a host, a team player, and a leader, and together with your team, you ensure that our guests experience the “Beat in the Mountains” in the restaurant as well.
Requirements
For this position, we’re looking for someone who combines hospitality with leadership. You enjoy being in the thick of things, taking on responsibility, and keeping your team motivated and everything under control—even on busy days.
- Completed training in the restaurant or hospitality industry—or comparable professional experience
- Several years of experience in service, ideally as a chef de rang or in a comparable leadership role
- Excellent knowledge of food, beverages, and wine
- Enjoyment of leading a team, motivating others, and sharing knowledge
- A strong hospitality mindset—for you, the guest is always the focus
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a structured and independent manner
- A confident and professional demeanor, even when dealing with complaints or challenging situations
- Business acumen and a keen sense for upselling and revenue growth
- Knowledge of hygiene, allergens, and quality standards
- Team spirit and a passion for collaborating with the kitchen, bar, front desk, and other departments
- Personal responsibility, reliability, and a willingness to make decisions
- Openness to new ideas and a desire to help us further develop the restaurant area
What’s especially important to us: You don’t have to be perfect at everything. What matters most is that you enjoy being a host or hostess, are able to lead people, and want to be part of our team with warmth, respect, passion, and personality.
